Fishermen take notice!

The CT Dept of Energy and Environmental Protection announced some changes to recreational marine fishing for 2012.


Black Sea Bass:

  • Season: June 15 to Dec. 31
  • Minimum size: 13”
  • Limit: 15 fish per person

Scup:

  • Season: May 1 to Dec. 31
  • Minimum size: 10.5”
  • Limit: 20 fish per person

Summer Flounder (Fluke):

  • Season: May 15 to Oct. 31
  • Minimum size: 18”
  • Limit: 5 fish per person

Tautog (Blackfish):

  • Season: April 1 to 30 and July 1 to Aug. 31
  • Minimum size: 16”
  • Limit: 2 fish per person
  • There is an additional open season for tautog from Oct. 10 to Dec. 6, with a larger creel limit of 4.

Special Shore Fishing Rules:

  • At 42 shoreline public fishing sites listed at www.ct.gov/deep/fishing, “saltwater recreational,” the minimum size for summer flounder (fluke) will be 16”, with an open season from May 15 to Oct. 31, and a creel limit 5 fish per person.
  • For scup, the minimum size will be 9”, with an open season from May 1 to Dec. 31, and a creel limit of 20 fish per person.
