The Black Rock Yacht and Athletic Club, (formerly Café Tavolini), located at 3074 Fairfield Ave has officially opened.    

If you haven't been there yet Saturday will be a great time to check them out while enjoying some live music.  Team BRL has heard their raw bar is awesome so we'll definitely be there.

Bluefish Opening Day

The Bridgeport Bluefish celebrate their 15 year anniversary and begin their 2012 season tonight at Harbor Yard vs. the Camden Riversharks at 7pm.  Hopefully the rain holds off tonight, but if not the the weather for the rest of the weekend looks sunny!  The Bluefish square off against the Riversharks Friday at 7pm, Sat at 2pm and Sun at 2pm as well.

Avicii Pics

Midnite Society has released an album of photo's from last week's Avicii concert at The Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard.  

Judging by the pics, it looked like a young crowd but looks like they went hard.  Were any of the Black Rock Life faithful at the concert?  Seems like there were tons of empty seats.  Hopefully this doesn't hinder Webster Bank Arena's ability to bring some bigger acts to Bridgeport!

Car crashes into 5 Guys Hamburgers

"Doing it Local" reported that yesterday around 5pm a car crashed into the front window of the newly opened 5 Guys Hamburgers in the Whole Foods Plaza at 340 Grasmere Ave. No one was injured. The picture window frame was bent but the structure remained intact and the restaurant remained opened.

Were any Black Rocker's grabbing some rainy day burgers while this happened?  Fill us in.

For anyone looking for a cool summer job, Captain's Cove is having their annual job fair this Saturday April 21st from 10am to 2pm.   They will be interviewing for bartenders, waitstaff, kitchen staff, security, bus boys, and pursers.  If you are interested in working at your favorite seaside spot make sure you head on down to Captain's Cove on Saturday!

Mayor Finch's Wednesday Lunch- Black Rock Stop Complaining

Each week on most Wednesdays, Mayor Bill Finch holds a "brown bag lunch" which is open to the public.  The CT Post ran an article on Sunday depicting the details of last week's mtg when the topic of taxes in Bridgeport came up.  The article reads...

"Taxes in Bridgeport are not that bad a deal," he said.

A $900,000 waterfront home in Black Rock would probably cost $3.5 million in Westport, he said. Even if taxes are slightly higher here, he added, it would take years and years for the aggregate costs to be equal.

"Those people (in Black Rock) have got to stop complaining about their taxes," he said.
